New York May 5, 2011 Q104.3, New Yorks classic rock station, announced today that contemporary music artist and guitarist Eric Johnson will perform an intimate show at the P.C. Richard & Son Theater in New York City on May 12, as part of Q104.3s 10th anniversary celebration of its Out of the Box show. Out of the Box is a weekly show on Q104.3 that features the best in new music from classic rock legends as well as newer bands/artists, and the best local, unsigned and undiscovered bands/artists from the garages and basements around the tri-state area. Out of the Box host Jonathan JC Clarke will host the event, which will stream live on Q1043.com at 7:00 p.m.

Johnsons music blends Jimi Hendrixs rock style with Albert Kings power blues. His latest album Up Close was released in the U.S. on December 7, 2010. Johnsons 1990 platinum selling album Ah Via Musicom featured the popular single Cliffs of Dover, for which he won the 1991 Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.

Over the past decade, some of the biggest names in rock have stopped by Out of the Box including Ronnie Wood, Stevie Nicks, Ray Davies, Slash and Bryan Adams. Out of the Box was the first radio station in the nation to play Maroon 5, The Strokes, Robert Randolph and The Gaslight Anthem among others, prior to their having had record deals.

Out of the Box airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on Q104.3. In addition to Johnsons performance, the event will also feature special guest musicians Will Lee and Anton Fig from the CBS Orchestra, who have been featured on The Late Show with David Letterman. Johnson will be touring throughout the year with the Experience Hendrix 2011 tour.
